The Silicone AFO: Support for Life’s Barefoot Moments

For patients who use an ankle-foot orthosis (AFO), stability and alignment are essential for efficient mobility. Traditional AFO designs provide structured support for everyday activities. However, certain environments – such as showering, aquatic therapy, beach outings, or barefoot exercises – may call for an orthotic solution better suited to those specific conditions.

Westcoast Brace & Limb offers a custom Silicone AFO – a soft, waterproof orthosis designed to provide support in situations where footwear is not practical.

The Silicone AFO is not intended to replace your daily brace. Instead, it acts as a secondary option that provides mild stability during specific activities where footwear isn’t required.

What Is a Silicone AFO?

A Silicone AFO is a custom fabricated orthosis made from medical-grade, hypoallergenic silicone. Each Silicone AFO at Westcoast Brace & Limb is made on-site in our Central Fabrication lab by our expert technicians. Velcro closure system for secure fit and ease of application. It provides mild ankle stability while remaining streamlined and skin-friendly, making it well suited for water environments and barefoot use.
