Where is the race held?
What day is the race?
Saturday February 15, 2014
What time does the race start?
The 5k race starts at 8am
1mile starts at 9:30
Where/When do I pick up my race packet?
If you cannot pick up your packet on Friday you will be able to get it on the day of the race at Race Headquarters.
What time should I be there?
We recommend that you be there early! The best time to get there is between 7 and 7:30 to increase your chances of a close parking spot and less chaos. If you cannot make it between 7 and 7:30 and you need to pick up your packet the day of the race we suggest getting there at least 30 minutes before your race time.
How do I know where to park?
There will be signs as you are coming into the complex on where to park. It can be somewhat difficult to navigate the large medical complex so get there early!
Will there be accessible parking?
Many of the participants will be using the accessible spaces. We suggest getting there early to ensure you have the closest possible parking.
Where do I get my Westcoast Brace & Limb t-shirt?
WCBL will have a booth set up near the finish line. You may come to the booth to get your t-shirt. Be sure to have on something that you can put the WCBL shirt over. We do not have a changing room! Although there will be port-o-johns there that you may change in.
What if my WCBL shirt does not fit?
We will have extra shirts in different sizes available while supplies last. But be there early to make sure you get the correct size.
Does WCBL have a booth?
Yes, near the finish line.
Can I still sign up?
Online registration ends today, Wednesday Feb 12, but you can always sign up race day.
I didn’t sign up but can I just come and help?
Yes! You may come and volunteer or just be there to cheer everyone on!
What if I want to do both races, the 5K and the 1 mile?
You are more than welcome to do both! Just make sure you sign up for the 5K so your time can be counted then the one mile is complimentary and not timed!
Who do I contact with questions on race day?
You may contact Andrea Puckett at (813)444-2728. It is best to text as it will probably be loud and hard to hear. You may also email email@example.com. Andrea will be checking her email and phone frequently on race day.
Race Day Tip:
- The dinner before the race should consist of complex carbs such as whole grain pasta or starchy vegetables.
- Drink plenty of water
- Light healthy breakfast the morning of the race with complex carbs and protein such as an egg white sandwich with whole grain bread or oatmeal.
- 1/2 hour to an hour before race move joints through full range of motion to get muscles loosened up. Taking a short walk to loosen up the muscles will help!
- Stretch after you are finished racing. Stretching after the race relaxes your muscles, helps speed circulation to joints and tissues and helps removal of unwanted waste products, thereby reducing muscle soreness and stiffness.
