Realistic protective skins can be applied over conventional lower extremity prosthetics using silicone-like materials. Like with silicone, these other materials are applied in layers and provide a realistic appearance. The skin can include:
- Hair
- Veins
- Age spots
- Freckles & birthmarks
- Tattoos
Custom prosthetic skins are covered by most insurance companies.
