Custom Fabricated Orthotics

A custom orthotic device is fabricated based on a mold, or model, of the user’s affected body part. A mold may be obtained by using one of two methods: physically casting the patient or obtaining detailed measurements. The practitioner then fabricates the orthotic device around the model of the affected body part. Once the device is complete, the practitioner fits the device to the patient.

Westcoast Brace & Limb is capable of creating every kind of customized, lower extremity orthotic device, including:

  • Orthotic devices for affects of polio, stroke, cerebral palsy, muscular sclerosis, spina bifida, and various neurological conditions
  • All designs for bracing, including metal, plastic, and lightweight carbon fiber
  • Solid & articulating Ankle Foot Orthotics (AFO)
  • Knee Ankle Foot Orthotics (KAFO)
  • Hip Knee Ankle Foot Orthotics (HKAFO)
  • Microprocessor technology for leg braces
  • Leg extension devices for extreme leg length discrepancies
  • Toe filler inserts for partial foot amputation
  • Custom foot orthotics

Custom Fitted Pre-Fabricated Orthotics

A custom fitted, pre-fabricated orthotic device is one that is ready to use “off the shelf.” These devices are available in several sizes. They are either kept in stock, or may be ordered following evaluation.   During the fitting, the practitioner ensures that the device properly fits and that it addresses the patient’s orthotic needs. If necessary, the practitioner may adjust and/or modify the device.

Westcoast Brace & Limb practitioners custom fit an array of pre-fabricated orthotic devices, such as:

  • Pre-fabricated Ankle Foot Orthotics (AFO)
  • Fracture boots/bracing
  • Sports bracing (custom & non-custom fabrication available)
  • Pressure relieving boots for ulcer care
  • Bracing to treat hip injuries
  • Knee bracing
