PROSTHETIC DEVICES

Upper Extremity / Lower Extremity / High Realism Silicone Restoration / Mastectomy

An amputation is a life-altering experience. Nearly 2 million people in the United States, or approximately 1 in 200, have some form of amputation.

The psychological and emotional effects of losing a limb can be extremely significant, not only for the injured person but also for those close to them. The relationship between a prosthetist and patient is an intimate one. We offer several different prosthetists within our practice, so we can best meet our patients’ physical and emotional needs. Let us show you why we are the prosthetic device leaders, in the Tampa Bay area and beyond.

WCBL is here to assist patients in every way possible. Helping our patients return to doing the things they enjoy is important to us. Upper extremity prostheses are designed to not only cosmetically replace the missing limb but to assist with function as well. A prosthesis will never completely replace the limb that was removed. However, a functional prosthesis can significantly improve quality of life, enabling the patient to perform regular tasks without assistance and live an independent lifestyle.

There are many different components to select when designing and fabricating a prosthesis. We work together with our patients to determine which design is most suitable to accomplish their goals. We assist with all levels of amputation, from finger and partial hand amputations, through wrist disarticulation, above and below elbow amputations, to shoulder disarticulations and forequarter.

HIGH-FIDELITY INTERFACE

The newest technology, by BioDesigns is redefining how a prosthetic socket should fit, providing the ultimate in comfort and function.

We provide patients with lower extremity prosthetic devices by using the latest technology and the highest quality of lightweight materials. Our main focus is helping each patient reach their goals by creating a prosthesis that is useful, comfortable, and cosmetically appealing. We are here to help the patients regain their self-confidence as they return to their normal lifestyle. If the patient needs or desires to walk again, return to work, play sports, or play with their children or grandchildren, we have a prosthetic device to match every aspect of their life.

All prosthetic options will be discussed with the patient and their entire team to ensure they receive the most appropriate device. Our prosthetists work closely with their patients, physicians, therapists, and family members, to develop the best treatment plan. We are here to ensure they receive all the support needed to assist in their rehabilitation process and achieve and maintain their goals.

High-Realism Prostheses

A prosthetic replacement of a body part can do more than just mimic natural movement. Our bodies are more than action. Form and function can exist in a comprehensive design that addresses the psychological and functional needs of the user.

Human skin is a complex organ comprised of multiple layers, each unique in composition, appearance, and function. Just like the real thing, Westcoast Brace & Limb’s Synthetic Skin Prostheses are crafted using several layers of silicone, each unique in color composition and texture. These prosthetic devices not only mirror the function of the human anatomy—they feel and look more like the real thing.

Mastectomy Prostheses & Supplies

After a mastectomy, many women can be uncomfortable with the changes in their physical appearance. These changes can be permanent or they may be temporary if you are scheduled for reconstructive surgery. There are many options available to support your body in its recovery and in regaining its natural balance and symmetrical appearance.

A breast prosthesis, or breast form, is an artificial breast used after one’s own breast has been altered or removed, usually through surgery. A breast form can then be worn to simulate a natural breast and one’s body shape.
